Hiroshima · Okonomiyaki
A two-minute walk from the Atomic Bomb Dome and from Peace Park. Hiroshima okonomiyaki is built in layers with yakisoba noodles inside, and not mixed in a bowl as in Osaka, and that is the difference worth knowing before you order. The Nagataya-yaki dish is about ¥1,550. 11:00 to 21:00 with last order at 20:00, closed on Tuesdays. There are no reservations, but the line moves fast, and every table has its own teppan.
Hiroshima · Seafood
The city's wholesale market, where the auxiliary buildings are open to the general public with shops and restaurants that cook from that morning's stock. Important to know: this is a working facility and not an attraction, and the trading halls themselves are closed to visitors. Once a year, on one Saturday in March, the market festival opens to the public with tuna cutting, a demonstration auction and grilled oysters. Outside that day, come for breakfast and not for a tour.

Central Hiroshima · Castle
The castle keep, rebuilt in concrete in 1958 after the bomb destroyed the original, closed to visitors on 22 March 2026. The grounds and the moat are open, and you see the keep from outside. The exhibits, swords and armor, are moving to a new museum in Sannomaru planned for spring 2027. The grounds are free. Combine it with Shukkeien Garden and do not build a whole day around the castle.
