Highland zone: from the summit down the 1972 slalom runs
At the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, Mount Teine hosted the slalom and giant slalom for men and women, and also the bobsleigh and luge. The lifts open at 09:00, and the Summit Express goes up to the summit, at 1,023 meters, with a view over the Ishikari Plain. From there you ski down the Olympic women's giant slalom run, 2,000 meters with a pitch of up to 34 degrees, or the men's and women's slalom run, 700 meters steep from top to bottom. Kitakabe, 'the North Wall', is 1,500 meters through the forest with a pitch of up to 36 degrees, and there is no way back halfway down, so it is for experienced skiers only. Beginners come down from the summit on Natural, a gentle forest run of 4 km to the ski center, or on the City View runs above Sapporo. The Summit Express and the Panorama lifts run until 15:30.
