Bonus Track: a mini street of independent shops and coffee
BONUS TRACK is a small complex of shops and restaurants around a plaza, opened in April 2020. It is built on land freed up when the Odakyu Line went underground, as part of the Shimokita Senrogai strip, and it sits halfway between Shimokitazawa and Setagaya-Daita stations. According to Walkerplus from 2020, it consists of five two-story wooden buildings: four that combine a shop and a home, and one commercial building. It is run by a company called Sanposha.
Among the businesses: the bookstore B&B, which opened in Shimokitazawa in 2012 and where you can drink a beer while choosing a book; Nikkiya Tsukihi, a shop for diaries and books of diaries; fuzkue, a cafe for reading in quiet; Pianola Records, a record shop for music from around the world; and Big Romantic Store, a shop of indie culture from Asia, mainly from Taiwan.
For food: Hakko Department, a shop of fermented products from Japan and around the world with a restaurant; ADDA, Sri Lankan and Indian curry; ANDON, rice porridge and rice balls in Akita style; Why_?, vegan juices and desserts; YOYO, cookies and pastries flavored with tea and spices; Shimokita Genzojo, pizza and a coffee bar from the K2 movie theater; and Kacha Kacha, focaccia and wine, opened in October 2026.
