Tokyo Skytree
Tokyo Skytree, 634 meters, is the tallest tower in Japan, and opened in 2012. The height was not chosen by chance: in a Japanese reading 6-3-4 sounds like Musashi, the old name of the province where Tokyo lies. It has two observatories, a deck at a height of 350 meters and a winding glass corridor at 450, and on clear days you can see Fuji from it.
Since April 2026 there is no longer a fixed price: each day has its own price according to demand. The ticket for the deck starts at ¥1,800 on the website and reaches ¥3,600 on busy days, and the combined ticket for both observatories starts at ¥3,000. If you buy at the ticket counter on site you pay ¥500 more per ticket.
At the base of the tower sits the Solamachi mall, with an aquarium, a large Pokemon Center and restaurants on the upper floors. It is a reasonable solution for a meal after the visit, without searching.
Good to know
- Children up to age 5 enter free, and from age 15 you pay the adult price. The separate youth ticket was cancelled.
- Sunset is the most popular hour. The price is set by demand, so check on the website how much the day you chose costs before you fix a time.
- Want the view without paying? From the Asakusa bank in Sumida Park you see the tower lit up above the river, and from the rooftop terrace of the information center in Asakusa you see it above the temple.
