Chabad Lubavitch of Japan, Tokyo
The Chabad House of Japan is at Takanawa 1-5-23, near the Isarago crossing on the Gyoran-zaka slope. The center is run by Rabbi Mendi and Chana Sudakevich, who came to Japan in 2000. It has a synagogue, Shabbat meals and a new mikveh that is open to everyone by advance arrangement with Chana.
Shabbat prayers: Mincha 5 minutes after candle lighting. Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv at 18:00 in winter (after Sukkot) and at 18:30 in spring and summer (after Pesach). On Shabbat morning Shacharit at 10:00, followed by Musaf and kiddush.
Shabbat meals are booked in advance with the form on the website: all Shabbat meals (Friday night, lunch and seudah shlishit) 108 dollars per person, and a single meal 54 dollars. Half price for children, students and members, and by donation for backpackers.

- A Shabbat apartment one minute's walk from the Chabad House, with two bedrooms and a dining room that opens onto a sofa: 250 to 350 dollars a night, 300 to 400 in March, April and May. On WhatsApp to Chana, +81 90-2329-4498.
- The nearest hotels according to Chabad: Tokyo Stay Takanawa, which knows Shabbat guests (electric key, no stairs, kitchenette), and Sheraton Miyako (10 minutes) and JW Marriott (12 minutes). Check the conditions with the hotel.
- If you get stuck on the way, ask at any koban (police box) for Chabad of Japan, as the website recommends.

A Zen temple where the 47 ronin of Ako are buried. If you go up to the graves, you are asked to donate ¥500 for incense. The ronin museum is open 9:00-15:30. The winter ronin festival is held 12 to 14 December 2026.
