David's Deli

David's Deli is a long-running Israeli and Jewish restaurant in Mita, near Shirokane-takanawa Station. In May 2025, when Chabad's Chana's Place closed as a restaurant, the deli became the kosher restaurant of Tokyo. Chabad Tokyo calls it 'our local kosher restaurant, 7 minutes from Chabad'.

The restaurant states that it is glatt kosher under Japan Kosher Services. In 2025 it was reported that the supervision is by Rabbi Mendi Sudakevich, the chief rabbi of Chabad Tokyo. If you keep a specific supervision, ask the Chabad House before you come.

On the menu are falafel (¥2,800), shakshuka (¥2,800), chicken schnitzel (¥3,750), grilled salmon (¥3,000), a hamburger with fries (¥4,500), hummus (¥1,200) and salads, and alongside them Japanese dishes such as vegetable yakisoba (¥2,500).

Good to know

  • A Shabbat set if you are staying at a hotel: Friday night dinner (¥9,000 per person) or Friday night and Shabbat lunch (¥14,770 per person), with challahs, a kiddush cup and wine. Order by Thursday 18:00, pickup or delivery in Tokyo on Friday only, and the last delivery leaves at 15:00. Outside Tokyo, contact the restaurant.
  • Shabbat candles for ¥150 with any set, and a regular challah (¥800) on Fridays only.
