Cure Maid Café

Cure Maid Cafe was founded in 2001, and presents itself as the first cafe in Japan with waitresses in maid uniform. Wikipedia lists it as the first permanent one, from March 2001. It is on floor 4 of the Onoden Building, inside the G-Store Akiba shop, and the waitresses wear classic uniforms. According to its site, the concept is a calm place.

The hotel chain MIMARU writes that there is no seat charge here, that you pay only for what you order, and that anyone looking for a pop-culture show will not get one here. The cafe's own site says nothing about a seat charge or songs, so this is a report and not a promise by the place.

The menu is that of a regular cafe: the Japan Tea Association recognized the place as a 'good tea house', and a cup of tea starts at ¥770. An omelet on rice is ¥990, curry from ¥1,100, and a sweets platter with scone, waffle, ice cream and tea ¥1,200. The place appears in anime series such as Love Live, and now and then runs collaborations with a special menu. From 30 October to 15 November 2026 this is Touhou Project, with dishes such as an omelet at ¥1,680.

Good to know

  • Photos and posting on social media are allowed, but without capturing other guests or staff, and no video.
  • The food is not kosher, and includes beef, pork and shrimp.
  • Old guides, such as Time Out, still give floor 6. The right address according to the cafe is Sotokanda 1-2-7, Onoden Building, floor 4.
  • Opening hours sometimes change before collaborations. On 29 October 2026 the place closed at 18:00 to prepare. Check the news page.
