Kobe Harborland
Harborland was built on the site of the former Japanese National Railways' Minatogawa freight station, and opened in 1992. The shopping part is called umie and is made up of three buildings: the North Mall, the South Mall, and MOSAIC, the low building on the waterfront.
At MOSAIC the restaurants are open until 22:00, and on the second floor several have terraces over the port. The MOSAIC Ferris wheel costs ¥800 per person for a ride of about ten minutes, and in the evening about 120,000 LED bulbs on it light up with animations.
West of MOSAIC stand brick warehouses from the late 90s of the 19th century, which today hold a restaurant, shops and a photo studio.
Good to know
- The shops at MOSAIC close at 20:00, two hours before the restaurants. If you come to shop, arrive before dinner.
- The subway Kaigan Line stops at Harborland Station, and from there you can go back to Sannomiya.
- The Ferris wheel has regular cabins and special cabins where you may eat, without alcohol.
