The Tokyo Station Hotel

The Tokyo Station Hotel sits inside the station's red-brick building, on the Marunouchi side, and opened in 1915. The building is protected as an Important Cultural Property and has 150 rooms. The entrance connects directly to the Marunouchi South Exit, so from the train you reach the front desk without going out to the street.

The rooms are divided by the side they face. On the palace side and in the "Palace View" rooms, the tall windows face the plaza in front of the station and the avenue that leads to the Imperial Palace. On the dome side the rooms face inward, toward the domes of the ticket hall, and the ceiling there is about 4 meters. In the other rooms the ceiling is about 3.7 meters on floor 2 and about 3 meters on floor 3. There are also suites, and two-level maisonette rooms.

Breakfast is served in the Atrium, an attic of more than 400 m² at the top of the building, for hotel guests only. The hotel suits a couple who want a special night, and above all a day when you leave or return by Shinkansen. It is not cheap, and it has no pool.

Good to know

  • If you arrive by Shinkansen or Narita Express, you can ask in advance to be escorted from the platform to the hotel. The service is free, and by advance booking only.
  • You can sit in the hotel's Lobby Lounge even if you are not staying at the hotel, 08:00 to 20:00. You cannot book a table just for coffee, and when it is full seating is limited to 90 minutes, and to one hour on weekends.
  • On the basement floor there are hot baths and a sauna. For guests it costs ¥2,000 per entry.
  • A NewDays convenience store operates inside the station's south dome, one minute from the hotel.
