TSUKIJI COOKING
Tsukiji Cooking is a cooking school that has taught in English since 2013, on floor 5 of a building inside the Tsukiji outer market, with a terrace looking over the site of the old wholesale market. In the group class you make nigiri, maki and ball-shaped sushi, along with teriyaki fish and miso soup, and eat what you made.
There are two versions. With the tour: at 10:00 you go out to the market and buy the fish and ingredients with the staff's help, at 11:00 you cook, at 12:20 you eat, and at 13:00 you finish, ¥17,600 per person. Without the tour you join at 11:00, ¥15,400 per person. Groups are up to 20 people, and you can also join alone.
The price includes the ingredients, an apron, tea and water, and the recipes in English are sent afterwards as a file. The food is not kosher and is based on raw fish. A vegetarian menu exists only in a private class.
Good to know
- The class without the tour is not offered on every date. Check the calendar before building the day around it.
- Cancelling 7 days before or less costs the full price, and between 14 and 8 days half. It is worth booking only once your flight dates are set.
- Tell them about dietary restrictions when you book. Arrive 10 minutes early, and there is an elevator to floor 5.
