Umeda Sky Building

Two 40-story towers, 173 meters tall, joined at the top by a single ring. The architect Hara Hiroshi designed the building as a 'city in the air'. In 2008 the British newspaper The Times chose it as one of the 20 most remarkable buildings in the world.

The observatory, Kuchu Teien, takes up floors 39 and 40 and the roof. From floor 35 you ride up a see-through escalator that crosses the open space between the towers. On floor 40 there is a cafe and a long glass counter facing the view, and above it an open roof with a 360-degree view.

Good to know

  • You go up to the observatory from a dedicated entrance outside the building, not in the office elevators in the towers.
  • The open roof may close in heavy rain. On such days you only see the view from inside, at the same price.
  • Osaka Amazing Pass holders get in free from 09:30 to 15:00, and after that at a 10 percent discount.
