The Gundam Base Tokyo
The Gundam Base Tokyo is Bandai's official store and complex for Gunpla, the Gundam model kits. It opened on 19 August 2017 on floor 7 of DiverCity, and entry is free. The space is divided into zones: a shop, a zone that shows how the kits are made, displays, and the builders' zone with tables where you assemble a kit you just bought.
The manufacturing zone and the builders' zone were renewed on 20 July 2026. The shop regularly sells kits released only at the Gundam Base, for example clear and metallic versions. There is also a paid painting room, from age 8, with spray equipment on loan.
On floor 2 of the same building there is a second, smaller shop, The Gundam Base Tokyo Annex, next to the plaza where the Unicorn statue stood until 31 August 2026. On 20 November 2026 a new branch opens in Shibuya, on floor 5 of PARCO.
Good to know
- When it is crowded entry is restricted, sometimes for the whole day. The store announces this on its news page, and it is worth checking in the morning.
- There are no fixed restock dates, and the staff do not answer questions about it. If you see a kit you want, buy it on the spot.
- If you want to paint your kit you can use the painting room, with lacquer or water-based paints only. Children under 8 do not go in.
