teamLab Planets, Toyosu Market and Odaiba: the futuristic day
Morning at the new fish market, midday inside water and digital flowers at teamLab, and the afternoon on the artificial island: Gundam's official Gunpla store, Rainbow Bridge at sunset, and a night ride over the bridge.
The futuristic day of Tokyo, on the artificial islands in the bay. You start in the morning at the new Toyosu fish market, walk barefoot in the water at teamLab, and ride the Yurikamome, a train with no driver, to Odaiba: lunch and the Gundam store in the same mall, and the beach facing Rainbow Bridge at sunset. You finish with the night ride over the bridge to Shimbashi, and if you want, go on to an onsen in Toyosu. Most of the getting around is on the Yurikamome: Shimbashi to Shijo-mae in the morning ¥390, Shin-Toyosu to Daiba ¥330, and Odaiba-kaihinkoen to Shimbashi in the evening ¥330, together ¥1,050, so a Yurikamome day pass, ¥820, pays off. If you pay by tapping a credit card at the gate you do not need to buy it: the charge stops by itself at ¥820 a day.

Getting there: Start at Shijo-mae Station on the Yurikamome Line, next to Toyosu Market. The Yurikamome is an automated train with no driver, and it is worth grabbing the first car, for the view.

Stop 1MarketRecommended
Toyosu Market and Senkyaku Banrai: the wholesalers' sushi
You start at the new wholesale market, from 2018. The tuna auction needs a lottery a month in advance, but the viewing deck is free. In the Senkyaku Banrai complex, an Edo-style street, you eat sushi bowls for breakfast. Pricier than Tsukiji, and less crowded.
Walk to teamLab
Stop 2MuseumMust
teamLab Planets: barefoot in water and light
You walk barefoot through knee-deep water, among digital fish and flowers falling from the ceiling. The price is dynamic by date, from ¥3,600 for an adult and more on weekends. Booking on the website is a must, there is no ticket office on site, and it opens at 08:00. Come in pants you can roll up. In 2025 a new wing was added, with a kitchen and a garden.
Ride to Odaiba
On the way you can stop at:
- Vegan Ramen UZU, in the teamLab plaza: Vegan ramen on a kombu and shiitake broth, only for teamLab ticket holders. Miso ramen ¥2,000, from 11:00.
Stop 3LunchRecommended
Lunch break in Odaiba
The DiverCity mall, with the Gundam Base, the next stop, on its floor 7. Touristy but practical, and in the rain it is the answer. Eat in its food court, or walk 8 minutes to the Aqua City mall on the waterfront, to the ramen floor:

Stop 4Anime shoppingRecommended
The Gundam Base Tokyo: the official Gunpla store
On floor 7 of the DiverCity mall is the official Gunpla complex: thousands of model kits from every generation, tables where you build on the spot, and displays, even for someone who knows nothing about Gundam. The Unicorn statue that stood in the plaza in front of the mall was removed at the end of August 2026 and not replaced, so there are no more evening transformation shows.
Break
A rest, at the hotel or on the beach
This day starts at 08:00 and ends around 20:00, and the evening still holds the beach at sunset and dinner. Odaiba is far from most of the places people stay, so only if you are staying in Odaiba itself do you go back to the hotel now for an hour and a half, on foot. If you are staying in Shimbashi or Shiodome, you need 15 minutes on the Yurikamome from Daiba to Shimbashi (¥330), plus the walk to and from the station, and that already eats most of the break. The other areas are farther. Until 22 April 2027 Miraikan is closed, so if you are not going back, walk slowly to the beach, about 10 minutes on foot from the Gundam Base, and sit on the sand or on the promenade facing Rainbow Bridge until sunset.
On to Miraikan
Stop 5MuseumIf there is time
Miraikan: the science and robots museum
If you did not go back to the hotel, you come here, but only from 23 April 2027: Miraikan is closed for renovation from 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027. It is the national science museum (¥630), with a globe hanging from the ceiling and interactive exhibits, excellent for children from age 6. While it is closed, spend longer at the beach.
Down to the beach
Stop 6Beach and viewpointMust
Odaiba Seaside Park and the Statue of Liberty
An artificial beach facing Rainbow Bridge, with a small Statue of Liberty on it, a replica of the one in Paris. From here you watch the sunset over the Tokyo skyline. You do not swim at this beach, but you can walk along it. If you want to walk across Rainbow Bridge itself: 30 minutes, free, until 21:00 from April to October, and from November to March only until 18:00 (last entry 17:30).
Up to dinner
Stop 7DinnerRecommended
Dinner in Odaiba
Decks is a mall on the boardwalk above the beach, and it has a 'memory street', a recreated street from the 60s. A light dinner with a view of the bridge. Touristy, yes, but the kids are delighted:
Walk to the train
TrainRecommended
Yurikamome back: the first car, Rainbow Bridge lit up
You finish with the night ride from Odaiba-kaihinkoen to Shimbashi, 13 minutes. Right after the station the automated train climbs to Rainbow Bridge, crosses it and makes a full loop, with Tokyo lit up all around. In the first car you sit in the seat of the driver who is not there, for the price of a regular ticket. From Shimbashi head back to the hotel on the JR lines, the Ginza Line or the Asakusa Line. If you want to finish in hot water, ride the Yurikamome the other way, to Shijo-mae, to Toyosu Manyo Club, 3 minutes on foot from the station: an onsen complex open 24 hours, with rooftop baths facing the bay, restaurants and a rest area. The water is trucked in from Hakone, and admission includes a yukata and towels. Tattoos: a cover sticker is required, and large tattoos are not accepted.
