Hotel Gracery Shinjuku
Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is at Kabukicho 1-19-1, in a 30-floor building with 970 rooms. The reception and lobby are on floor 8, and so is the Godzilla head on the hotel's terrace.
The terrace is closed for now, and according to the hotel, entry to the hotel area to see the head is limited to guests and customers of the Gracery Lounge on floor 8. So if you are not staying here and want to see the head up close, you pay for a coffee in the lounge and see it through the windows. From the street you see it for free.
There are four kinds of Godzilla stay. The Godzilla Room and the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah Room: one room of each kind, on floor 30, a 32 m² comfort twin. The Godzilla Floor: 35 rooms on the top floor, twin 24 m², double 18 m² and triple 28 m². The Godzilla View rooms: 6 double rooms of 18 m² where you see Godzilla from the window, and you cannot choose the room number.
Good to know
- In the Godzilla Room a life-size Godzilla suit stands by the door, and a giant 'Godzilla hand' seems to cover the room, with video and sound. In the Ghidorah room the design is a special-effects film studio.
- In the View rooms each room has a different scene tapestry, and the view of Godzilla changes from room to room.
- A booking for the Godzilla Room, the Ghidorah room or a View room includes a gift of a limited Godzilla goods item.
- The Gracery Lounge on floor 8 is open 09:30 to 22:00, coffee from ¥1,650 and a cake set ¥2,750 (including tax and service). Payment is cashless, and you can reserve at 03-6833-1111.
- The hotel is in the heart of Kabukicho, a nightlife district with bars and adult clubs. Do not follow anyone who approaches you on the street offering a bar: the police warn of inflated bills. If you travel with children or want a quiet street at night, you will find more comfortable choices near Shinjuku Station.
