RAGTAG Harajuku (Cat Street)
RAGTAG is a Japanese chain of secondhand designer clothing, and the Harajuku branch is its oldest: it opened in 1985 on Takeshita Street, moved in 2012 to Cat Street, and moved again on 12 December 2023 to the Hulic Jingumae building, right across from the previous spot, at Jingumae 5-17-9. The store has two floors: floor 1 has women's clothing and a counter that buys from customers, and floor 2 has men's clothing with a sneaker corner.
According to a trade newspaper article from January 2024, the store holds about 4,500 items, about 80 percent of them clothing and the rest bags, shoes and accessories, and half the stock is arranged by brand. Time Out lists brands such as Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, Sacai and Chanel on the women's floor, and A Bathing Ape and Hysteric Glamour on the men's floor. Items are authenticated and repaired at the chain's center before they go on the shelf.
This is not a cheap vintage shop for digging but a store of used brand-name items, with prices to match. According to the same article, about half the customers here are tourists.
Good to know
- Signs in the store show where each brand is, so you can go straight to the rack of the designer you are looking for.
- We did not find an official source that says whether the store offers tax-free. If it matters to you, ask at the register before you pay, and note that from 1 November 2026 Japan moves to a refund system.
- RAGTAG has another branch in Shibuya (Jinnan 7-7) and two in Shinjuku. The stock is different at each branch.
